99PLUS Announces New Cookbook! |

99Plus Foundation Cookbook Features District 99 Teacher, Staff And Class Recipes.

Favorite recipes from District 99 North and South High classes and from teachers, principals, department chairs, coaches and secretaries will be published in a cookbook this August as part of a fundraiser by the District 99 Education Foundation, 99PLUS.
The cookbook, called A Taste of District 99…Food for Thought, features 350 recipes submitted from teachers and principals to secretaries, Board of Education members and Foundation board members. In it you will find a blintz recipe, made by students, that has been a mainstay for 10 years at the South High open house for special needs students; North High world language dishes that are created for French, German and Spanish classes; several of South High Principal Stephan Bild’s favorite recipes, including monkey bread; North High Principal Maria Ward’s chocolate chip cookie recipe that she has been making for her son since he was in first grade; South High science teachers’ ice cream recipe that is used as part of a class lab; and Superintendent Mark McDonald’s family spaghetti recipe. Categories range from appetizers and breakfast dishes to fish, desserts and casseroles.
The cookbook is the first of its kind published by the 99PLUS Foundation. Copies can be reserved at the Foundation’s website at 99plus.org or during student packet pick-up day Aug. 17, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. at South and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. at North. Beginning Aug. 29, the cookbook will be sold at the Community Bank of Downers Grove, 1111 Warren Ave., Downers Grove, and Anderson’s Bookshop, Downers Grove.
